What is a recall?

It’s always important to keep up with the latest recalls, no matter how small the issue may appear to be. Each week, NHTSA publishes the latest information on recalls from minor to major defects. NHTSA releases its most recent list of recalls each Monday.

When a manufacturer or the NHTSA determines that a recreational vehicle or item of RV equipment creates an unreasonable risk to safety or fails to meet minimum safety standards, the manufacturer is required to fix that vehicle or equipment at no cost to the consumer.

Per strict NHTSA protocols, manufacturers will next notify its dealer partners of the recall notice. Each notice will include details of the affected vehicles as well as the appropriate remedy.

Common types of RV recalls

There are three main types of RV recalls. Those issued by the RV manufacturer, the motorhome chassis maker, and third-party suppliers.

RV manufacturers, such as Forest River Inc., REV Group, Thor Industries, and Winnebago Indristies are the most common recalls. 

RV manufacturer recalls can be for various reasons such as a problem with the structure of the RV, an issue with the electrical system, or a problem with the plumbing. 

The motorhome chassis manufacturer such as Ford, Chevrolet, or Mercedes issues the second most common type of recall typically because of a problem with the vehicle components of the motorhome. 

The third type of recall is issued by a third-party supplier for various reasons, such as a problem with water heaters, appliances, and other non-OEM components.

Thousands of RVs are affected by the latest RV recalls issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Before you head out with your RV, check the latest roundup of NHTSA recalls to determine if your RV is affected.

What is a recall?

It’s always important to keep up with the latest recalls, no matter how small the issue may appear to be. Each week, NHTSA publishes the latest information on recalls from minor to major defects. NHTSA releases its most recent list of recalls each Monday.

When a manufacturer or the NHTSA determines that a recreational vehicle or item of RV equipment creates an unreasonable risk to safety or fails to meet minimum safety standards, the manufacturer is required to fix that vehicle or equipment at no cost to the consumer.

Per strict NHTSA protocols, manufacturers will next notify its dealer partners of the recall notice. Each notice will include details of the affected vehicles as well as the appropriate remedy.

It should be noted that RV recalls are related to vehicle safety and not product quality. NHTSA has no interest in an air conditioner failing to cool or slide out failing to extend or retract—unless they can be directly attributed to product safety.

Common types of RV recalls

There are three main types of RV recalls. Those issued by the RV manufacturer, the motorhome chassis maker, and third-party suppliers.

RV manufacturers, such as Forest River Inc., REV Group, Thor Industries, and Winnebago Indristies are the most common recalls. 

RV manufacturer recalls can be for various reasons such as a problem with the structure of the RV, an issue with the electrical system, or a problem with the plumbing. 

The motorhome chassis manufacturer such as Ford, Chevrolet, or Mercedes issues the second most common type of recall typically because of a problem with the vehicle components of the motorhome. 

The third type of recall is issued by a third-party supplier for various reasons, such as a problem with water heaters, appliances, and other non-OEM components. 

Regardless of the type of recall, it’s vital to have it fixed as soon as possible to avoid any further damage to your RV.

Your recreational vehicle may be involved in a safety recall and may create a safety risk for you and your passengers. Safety defects must be repaired by a certified dealer at no cost to you. However, if left unrepaired, a potential safety defect in your vehicle could lead to injury or even death.

Thousands of RVs are affected by the latest RV recalls issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Before you head out with your RV, check the latest roundup of NHTSA recalls to determine if your RV is affected.

What is a recall?

It’s always important to keep up with the latest recalls, no matter how small the issue may appear to be. Each week, NHTSA publishes the latest information on recalls from minor to major defects. NHTSA releases its most recent list of recalls each Monday.

When a manufacturer or the NHTSA determines that a recreational vehicle or item of RV equipment creates an unreasonable risk to safety or fails to meet minimum safety standards, the manufacturer is required to fix that vehicle or equipment at no cost to the consumer.

Per strict NHTSA protocols, manufacturers will next notify its dealer partners of the recall notice. Each notice will include details of the affected vehicles as well as the appropriate remedy.

It should be noted that RV recalls are related to vehicle safety and not product quality. NHTSA has no interest in an air conditioner failing to cool or slide out failing to extend or retract—unless they can be directly attributed to product safety.

Common types of RV recalls

There are three main types of RV recalls. Those issued by the RV manufacturer, the motorhome chassis maker, and third-party suppliers.

RV manufacturers, such as Forest River Inc., REV Group, Thor Industries, and Winnebago Indristies are the most common recalls. 

RV manufacturer recalls can be for various reasons such as a problem with the structure of the RV, an issue with the electrical system, or a problem with the plumbing. 

The motorhome chassis manufacturer such as Ford, Chevrolet, or Mercedes issues the second most common type of recall typically because of a problem with the vehicle components of the motorhome. 

The third type of recall is issued by a third-party supplier for various reasons, such as a problem with water heaters, appliances, and other non-OEM components. 

Regardless of the type of recall, it’s vital to have it fixed as soon as possible to avoid any further damage to your RV.

NHTSA announced 5 recall notices during December 2025. These recalls involved 5 recreational vehicle manufacturers—Tiffin (1 recall), Foretravel (1 recall), Pleasant Valley (1 recall), Keystone (1 recall), and Jayco (1 recall).

Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc.

  • 2026 Open Trail motorhomes

Incorrect cargo carrying capacity on OCCC label/FMVSS 120

Potential number of units affected: 8

Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. (Tiffin) is recalling certain 2026 Open Trail motorhomes. The Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity (OCCC) label may have the incorrect cargo carrying capacity information, which can result in an overloaded vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 120, “Wheels and Rims – Other Than Passenger Cars.”

What owners included in the recall should do

Tiffin will mail corrected labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 16, 2026. Owners may contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661. Tiffin’s number for this recall is WAY-105. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 16, 2026.

Foretravel, Inc.

  • 2020-2022 Realm motorhomes
  • 2022 Realm 450 motorhomes

Incorrect weld may cause seat failure/FMVSS 207, 210

Potential number of units affected: 7

Foretravel, Inc. (Foretravel) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Realm and 2022 Realm 450 vehicles. The pedestal mounting plate may have been improperly welded, causing the plate to separate and the seat assembly to loosen or detach. As such, these seat assemblies fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 207, “Seating Systems” and 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.”

Keystone RV Company

  • 2026 Impact recreational trailers

Patio railing kit may be missing components

Potential number of units affected: 203

Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2026 Impact and Carbon recreational trailers equipped with 3000 series patio rail kits. The kits may be missing the angle brackets and the footman loops, preventing the gap panels from being properly attached.

What owners included in the recall should do

Dealers will install the missing components, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 28, 2026. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. The Certification and Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity (OCCC) labels may list the incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), and Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR). As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 120, “Wheels and Rims-Other Than Passenger Cars” and 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”

It should be noted that RV recalls are related to vehicle safety and not product quality. NHTSA has no interest in an air conditioner failing to cool or slide out failing to extend or retract—unless they can be directly attributed to product safety.

Common types of RV recalls

There are three main types of RV recalls. Those issued by the RV manufacturer, the motorhome chassis maker, and third-party suppliers.

RV manufacturers, such as Forest River Inc., REV Group, Thor Industries, and Winnebago Indristies are the most common recalls. 

RV manufacturer recalls can be for various reasons such as a problem with the structure of the RV, an issue with the electrical system, or a problem with the plumbing. 

The motorhome chassis manufacturer such as Ford, Chevrolet, or Mercedes issues the second most common type of recall typically because of a problem with the vehicle components of the motorhome. 

The third type of recall is issued by a third-party supplier for various reasons, such as a problem with water heaters, appliances, and other non-OEM components. 

Regardless of the type of recall, it’s vital to have it fixed as soon as possible to avoid any further damage to your RV.

  • 2018-2026 Riverstone fifth wheel trailers

Hydraulic brake lines may fail

Potential number of units affected: 2,379

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018-2026 Riverstone fifth wheel trailers. The steel hydraulic brake lines may fail and leak brake fluid.

What owners included in the recall should do

Dealers will inspect and replace the brake lines, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 3, 2025. Owners may contact Forest River Customer Service at 260-593-2425. Forest River’s number for this recall is 70-1957.

  • 2024-2026 East to West Entrada recreational vehicles

Trailer brakes may lock up

Potential number of units affected: 209

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2024-2026 East to West Entrada recreational vehicles. Due to an incorrectly wired 7-way harness, the trailer brakes may lock up when the RV brakes are applied.

What owners included in the recall should do

  • 2026 Flagstaff recreational trailers
  • 2026 Rockwood recreational trailers

Incorrectly wired breakaway switch

Potential number of units affected: 7

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2026 Flagstaff and Rockwood recreational trailers. The breakaway switch was wired to the incorrect side of the battery disconnect switch, making the breakaway switch inoperative.

What owners included in the recall should do

Dealers will rewire the breakaway switch, free of charge. All vehicles are located on dealer lots. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-8942. Forest River’s number for this recall is 10-1966.

  • 2026 Cedar Creek recreational trailers

Missing emergency exit window

Potential number of units affected: 7

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2026 Cedar Creek recreational trailers. The trailers may not have an emergency exit window installed.

What owners included in the recall should do

Dealers will install red window operating hardware and an exit sticker for the window, free of charge. All vehicles are still in dealer inventory and therefore no owner notification letters will be mailed. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-260-593-4000. Inconsistently stripped wires may cause electrical arcing

Potential number of units affected: 502

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Spirit and Shasta Oasis recreational trailers. The 30 AMP or 50 AMP inlet wire sheathing may be inconsistently stripped, causing electrical arcing.

What owners included in the recall should do

  • 2026 Springdale travel trailers
  • 2026 Hideout travel trailers

Bunk bed brackets may fail

Potential number of units affected: 148

Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2026 Springdale and Hideout travel trailers. The pivot brackets on the bunk bed may bend or break.

What owners included in the recall should do

Dealers will replace the brackets, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 14, 2025. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone’s number for this recall is 25-472.

REV Recreation Group

  • 2023-2024 American Coach American Tradition
  • 2023-2026 American Eagle
  • 2023-2026 American Dream
  • 2025-2026 Fleetwood Palisade recreational vehicles

Fuse housing may melt

Potential number of units affected: 224

REV Recreation Group (REV) is recalling certain 2023-2024 American Coach American Tradition, 2023-2026 American Eagle, and American Dream, and 2025-2026 Fleetwood Palisade recreational vehicles. The waste tank macerator fuse may overheat, causing the fuse housing to melt.

What owners included in the recall should do

Dealers will inspect and replace the fuse and fuse block holder as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 27, 2025. Owners may contact REV customer service at 1-800-509-3417. REV’s number for this recall is 250829REV.

Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc.

  • 2025 GT1 Touring vans

Incorrect seatbelt length

Potential number of units affected: 20

Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. (Tiffin) is recalling certain 2025 GT1 Touring vans. The seat belt buckles on the rear bench seat may be too short and not able to be buckled.

What owners included in the recall should do

Storyteller Overland, LLC

  • 2024-2026 GXV Hilt recreational vehicles

Improperly routed wires in auxillary power system

Potential number of units affected: 61

Storyteller Overland, LLC (Storyteller) is recalling certain 2024-2026 GXV Hilt recreational vehicles. The auxiliary power system wires may have been improperly. The wires may be damaged by contact with the intake manifold.

What owners included in the recall should do

Dealers will inspect, replace, and secure the wires as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 4, 2025. Owners may contact Storyteller customer service at 1-888-999-7442.

Cruiser RV

  • 2025 Avenir travel trailers

Axle may not provide enough clearance

Potential number of units affected: 10

Cruiser RV (Cruiser) is recalling certain 2025 Avenir travel trailers. The underslung axle may not provide enough clearance, allowing the wheel wells to contact and damage the tires.

What owners included in the recall should do

Jayco, Inc.

  • 2026 Seismic fifth wheel travel trailers

Incorrect GAWR on label

Potential number of units affected: 75

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2026 Seismic fifth wheel travel trailers. The certification label lists an incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR). As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”
